SBMHA Registration Fee Covid19 Refund Statement

Due to the cancellation of the 2020/21 season by Hockey Winnipeg, registration fees paid to SBMHA in the fall will be refunded to members on or around April 30th, net of amounts retained by our governing bodies (Hockey Winnipeg, Hockey Manitoba and Hockey Canada), and certain operating costs incurred by SBMHA up until the shutdown.

Our Treasurer will calculate refunds for each family and will consolidate by team and make lump sum payments to the team accounts. The team managers will then distribute refunds to families from there.

Hockey Canada Assist Fund

The Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund is a $1 million fund dedicated to helping Canadian youth return to hockey during and after COVID-19. It will provide up to $500 per player in registration fee subsidies to approved applicants registered with a sanctioned Hockey Canada association.

This new program aims to help Canadian families and communities get youth back on the ice through registration fee support. Applications can be done by the families themselves OR on behalf of those in need by their local MHA.

There are eligibility criteria to consider, and please note that these applications require families/applicants to divulge sensitive information regarding their income and socioeconomic status. This information is never shared publicly and is used solely for fulfilling application criterion.

There is also an option to donate, wherein 100% of your donation goes to subsidizing hockey registration fees for Canadian youth. There is no limit to one’s donation, and it can be done anonymously. Again, one hundred per cent of all donations will go to supporting access to hockey.
